Installing
Download the installer for your system from the plug-in's page and run it. When it has finished, open your DAW. Most hosts find a new plug-in when they start; if yours does not, see the next section.
- Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". The Rice Cake Delay installer for Windows is not code-signed yet, so Windows warns about it. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Where the plug-in goes. VST3 plug-ins live in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3on Windows and in/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3on macOS. Audio Units live in/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. - The manual. Rice Cake Delay user manual (PDF, 5 MB).
The plug-in does not appear in my DAW
- Ableton Live: Settings → Plug-Ins. Switch on "Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders" and press Rescan.
- FL Studio: Options → Manage plugins → Find installed plugins.
- REAPER: Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → VST → Re-scan.
- Cubase: Studio → VST Plug-in Manager, then the refresh button.
- Logic Pro: Logic uses the Audio Unit. Quit and reopen Logic so it checks new plug-ins; if it still does not appear, look in Settings → Plug-in Manager.
Check as well that the plug-in matches your host: every plug-in here is 64-bit, and Logic Pro needs the Audio Unit, which only the macOS installer contains.
Removing a plug-in
On Windows, look for it under Settings → Apps → Installed apps. If it is not listed there, delete its .vst3 from the folder named above. On macOS, delete it from the plug-in folders named above. Your projects are not changed; a project that used the plug-in will report it as missing.
